Working remotely gives employees a chance to experience flexibility and freedom, but as the project manager you are still responsible for the outcome of the project - and the performance of employees.
There is no doubt that a remote workforce has advantages, often in significant cost savings for the employer. But managing a remote team poses its own challenges that often become worse when an employee works remotely - yet your boss is not going to lower his or her standards for the project just because management problems are being exacerbated by distance!
